Step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
I am so grateful to AA for feeling tonight like I’m not in that anxious seeking stage anymore. It’s still amazing to me that I’ve come to a place where I have a solid relationship with my higher power. I spent many years seeking earnestly, through fervent prayers and stumbling meditation, the God who was actually just waiting for me to let go of all I thought I knew and fall into His loving embrace. I love the story told in the song Amazing Grace – about all the trials and tribulations we go through until we hear the sweet sound of Grace. Every word in that song resonates with me, and it’s kind of like a prayer in itself.
Thanks to AA and all its people and principles, I get to enjoy that conscious contact with God every day.
