Treasurer
Secretary
Listkeepers
“Chair”>My name is Mary O, and I am currently serving as the Business Chair. I have held this position for two rotations. In this role, it is essential for members to have adequate computer skills. Collaboration with the Secretary and other service position members is necessary, and being organized is highly advantageous. Developing a system to track tasks associated with this position has been an ongoing process, but it is becoming more manageable over time.
The workload increases during business meetings. Notices must be sent to members before meetings begin, and during meetings, it is important to follow the agenda format and conduct votes as required. Ensuring the meeting concludes within the allocated time remains a priority. After each meeting, minutes are prepared, distributed to members, and a copy is sent to Dana to be posted on the GROW website.
Through this position, I have gained insight into the conduct of business meetings and learned more about AA’s business operations. This experience has reinforced the importance of service at all levels to keep GROW active and welcoming.
Secretary
Hi, I’m Sophie and I’m an alcoholic. I have served as Secretary for the past 18 months and am now overdue to rotate out of this position.
To help keep track of who is serving in which role and when they are due to rotate out, I have found a simple table to be very useful. During rotation periods, I have prioritized the greeter/listkeeper roles and the weekly meetings listkeeper role to ensure that GROW meetings remain open and active.
I sent out the bi-annual group inventory and received thoughtful reflections from a small number of members.
I am considering whether we should conduct a roll call to ensure two things: first, that we have current email addresses for AA women who wish to continue receiving GROW emails and second, that our members are adhering to the Third Tradition. It has been over two years since our last roll call, and I am happy to coordinate this process with one of the Listkeepers.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve. While I am open to rotating into another service role within GROW, I will not be continuing as Secretary, even if no one steps forward. I believe in AA’s principle of rotation for the health of the group, and that service is about serving, not leading.
The Secretary position is not a large job, but it becomes busy during the biannual rotations prior to our Business Meetings in April and October. Managing these rotations has required resilience. I strive to follow the spirit of our guidelines and AA principles, though I have not always been able to follow them precisely. I trust that each servant does their best, and I know that I have done so myself.
In love and service.

Thank you for allowing me to serve.

Listkeeper Alternate
Over the past year, I have served as the alternate List Keeper. My responsibilities included covering alternate weeks in coordination with the rest of the team, which consists of another List Keeper and two Greeters. Together, we respond to inquiries about joining the group. One of my primary tasks has been to check my spam folder daily to ensure that I do not miss any messages requiring attention.
I also monitor for issues like undelivered messages and address each situation individually. During my year in this role, I only needed to contact the listserver once to resolve a problem, but this allowed me to gain valuable experience.
This has been a wonderful experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to assist the group. I look forward to continuing to serve in the coming year.
